The Office of Education Abroad is here to support you on your journey to global citizenship. We provide numerous opportunities to study abroad and experience the world through over 60 faculty-led programs, our international student exchange program, and our third-party providers. Each year over 1,000 Panthers study, research, or intern abroad in dozens of countries throughout the world. Are you ready?
NAFSA, the world’s leading nonprofit association for international education, has awarded FIU the 2021 Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization, recognizing its efforts in making international education part of the university experience. The award distinguishes overall excellence in integrating international education throughout all facets of university and college campuses.
Go abroad as a first or second year in college!
• Financially accessible, including fully equipped apartments, 24/7 access to FIU study center, beginning and ending group meals, some field trips and activities with instructors.
• Genoa is a beautiful and complex city on the Mediterranean Sea with small coastal towns to the east and west (the beaches of the Italian Riviera!) and mountains behind (great hikes!).
• Immerse yourself in everyday life in a unique Italian city with a distinct local culture and cuisine; shop for fresh food in small, local shops and covered markets, and you can walk everywhere.
• 12-credit semester to stay on track: 3 UCC courses taught in English by qualified Italian instructors for a different perspective, plus 2 online FIU courses (student’s choice and financial aid recipients).
• Easy train connections to Italian cities (Milan, Florence and Rome) and nearby towns (like the Cinque Terre and Portofino), as well as low-cost flights to cities in Europe.
All students cleared by their academic advisors will be invited to an interview selection process. Interviews are not an automatic acceptance to this study abroad program.

International Pop Culture : The Argentine Edition

LACC’s Argentine Pop Culture study abroad program is an intensive ten-day program into the vibrant heart of Argentine identity and the evolution of popular culture. Highlights include visiting Palermo food and street art circuits, Fileteado porteño tour, Museo Evita, el Planetario, la Boca, Usina del Arte, the San Telmo fair, the Teatro Colon and many more! This course explores the evolution of Argentine identity by examining how cultural roots like the Argentine tango, fútbol, rock nacional, and national icons have served as vital tools for national resilience and political expression. Additionally, students will analyze contemporary Argentina to understand how traditional rituals, modern media, food and music, and grassroots activism continue to shape its unique Euro-Latin American heritage in a globalized world.
Fall Break 2026
Through the analysis of tourism impacts, both positive and negative, students will learn the interrelatedness of the tourism industry. Examining international tourist behavior and culture.
